Visit Lake County supports the bitter jester music festival

Bitter Jester Music Festival is an exceptional avenue for youth and young adult aspiring musicians to explore their craft, display integrity of work ethic and instill values while nurturing relationships with other personalities. As theVisit Lake County Content Manager, I stood as a judge for the Highland Park classic event and was inspired and amazed by the effort and confidence of the performers.

From a musician’s standpoint, as a composer and performer myself, I wish this existed in the Chicagoland areawhen I was coming of age. As a travel marketing professional, you can see how this month and a half fest injectsdollars into the Highland Park and Highwood communities as musicians, the minstrel’s family and fans patron surrounding businesses in the area.

BJMF has championed the progress of local youth artists. While they have succeeded and still pursue excellence for Lake County musicians, BJMF has set its sights on assisting up-and-coming Midwestern makers. Seeing out-of-state bands venture into southern Lake County generates overnight stays and hotel tax dollars are vital to thesecommunity’s well-being. It also provides performance opportunities for homegrown Lake County talent and beyondwhen these two neighboring cities, Highland Park and Highwood, are planning for live entertainment during their community festivals.

While we are still in the recovery period as a nation from the pandemic, BJMF is a necessity for young creativeminds. Kids losing a year of education and growth is detrimental to all. BJMF had the gumption to provide that outlet as a virtual program in the 2020 installment.

As a fellow non for profit, we are ecstatic about the two years of working with The Bitter Jester Foundation forthe Arts, NFP, and can’t wait to see the talent on the docket for this year’s 15th installment of the event.
